How To Determine Your Child's Playing Age and Classification

A soccer seasonal year runs from August 1 through July 31.  Your child's playing age for the entire soccer seasonal
year is the age of the child as of July 31.  See the following guidelines:

If your child is age 8 as of July 31, then their playing age is 8 and classification is u9 for the entire soccer
seasonal year even if they turn 9 during the soccer seasonal year.

If your child is age 9 as of July 31, then their playing age is 9 and classification is u10 for the entire soccer
seasonal year even if they turn 10 during the soccer seasonal year.

If your child is age 10 as of July 31, then their playing age is 10 and classification is u11 for the entire soccer
seasonal year even if they turn 11 during the soccer seasonal year.

If your child is age 11 as of July 31, then their playing age is 11 and classification is u12 for the entire soccer
seasonal year even if they turn 12 during the soccer seasonal year.

If your child is age 12 as of July 31, then their playing age is 12 and classification is u13 for the entire soccer
seasonal year even if they turn 13 during the soccer seasonal year.

If your child is age 13 as of July 31, then their playing age is 13 and classification is u14 for the entire soccer
seasonal year even if they turn 14 during the soccer seasonal year.

If your child is age 14 as of July 31, then their playing age is 14 and classification is u15 for the entire soccer
seasonal year even if they turn 15 during the soccer seasonal year.

If your child is age 15 as of July 31, then their playing age is 15 and classification is u16 for the entire soccer
seasonal year even if they turn 16 during the soccer seasonal year.

  Notes:

A player can play up two levels of classification – u9 players can play on u11 teams, u10 players can play on u12
teams, u11 players can play on u13 teams, etc.

HCYS Classic teams (CIYSL and G.I.R.L.S.) are typically formed by classification in increments of one (u10, u11,
      u12, etc.).

HCYS Rec-Plus teams (ECIYSL) are typically formed by classification in increments of two (u10, u12, u14, etc.).
